Odd Phone Call

I just got an odd call on my mobile from a blocked number:

Prat: Hello is that Tom?
Me: Yeah speaking.
Prat: Hi, I work for Kingsnorth power station. I was going to offer you a job, but I thought you might go crazy and throw the coal out. You’re a c•••. Bye.

Now I think I recognised the voice (someone in the lefty-green-activist ‘community’ in Manchester, though I’ll keep the name to myself), but it just seems such an odd drunken prank call to receive. Oh well, I’ve had worse written about me.

The EU Has A Sense Of Humour

Or at least, the EU pays someone to make a comic. Here’s my favourite bit so far. Lets reconcile!

Eleventh Briefing

EU

The climate package has been agreed upon by the European Council. Not as good as could have been hoped for, but I suppose it is better than nothing. My previous posts on it can be found here, and when I get a chance, I’ll go into a bit more detail.

UK

The people of Manchester have spoken. They don’t want a world-class transport system. They like sitting in queues of traffic. I’m now rather more glad that I’m moving away from this place next summer.

Greece

Kathimerini is reporting that Eco-greens have protested against the government, calling for the resignation of senior figures in the interior ministry.

Left on a Train

Yesterday’s Edinburgh Evening News gave its front page to yet another ‘left-on-a-train’ story — with a twist. This time, it was a bag with £30,000 was found. Good to see that it isn’t just government and civil servants who leave valuable things on trains.
